About Watchman Defense
Watchman Defense teaches the Michigan concealed pistol license class in Carleton, in Monroe County. The format is one day: classroom instruction in the morning, live fire in the afternoon, and the certificate you need for your county clerk application at the end of it.
Every class includes training and practice on drawing from the holster. Most CPL classes do not make time for it, and it is the part students tend to remember.

Todd is a clear communicator who puts people at ease. New shooters are comfortable with their handgun by the time they leave, and shooters who already have experience come away with better core skills.
He teaches the reasoning behind each technique rather than running students through a video, and he works with people one on one. Nobody gets singled out for being new, and questions are welcome at any point in the day.
The classroom material covers Michigan law and the legal use of force in detail, so you leave knowing how to stay safe physically, criminally and civilly.

Universal safety rules, clearing a semi-automatic and a revolver, how actions work, selecting a handgun, and ammunition care and storage.
Defensive shooting fundamentals
Grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control, and the difference between defensive shooting and target marksmanship. Plus drawing from the holster.
Michigan law and the legal use of force
Applying for your CPL, reasonable force versus deadly force, defending the home, reciprocity, encounters with law enforcement, and civil liability.
